{"id":3999,"date":"2014-08-29T17:35:54","date_gmt":"2014-08-29T17:35:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nnyagdev.org\/?p=3999"},"modified":"2014-08-29T17:35:54","modified_gmt":"2014-08-29T17:35:54","slug":"white-mold-found-in-nny-soybeans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nnyagdev.org\/index.php\/2014\/08\/29\/white-mold-found-in-nny-soybeans\/","title":{"rendered":"White Mold Found in NNY Soybeans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over the past couple of weeks, Cornell Cooperative Extension NNY Regional Field Crops specialists Mike Hunter and Kitty O\u2019Neil have discovered numerous soybean fields that are affected by white mold (or <i>Sclerotinia<\/i> Stem Rot) throughout Northern NY.<\/p>\n<p>White mold is usually not a major problem in in the North Country, however, this year seems to be an exception.<\/p>\n<p>White mold infections are favored by cool, cloudy, wet and humid weather conditions at soybean flowering. This disease is more likely to be found in fields that have thick stands with high populations planted in narrow rows.  It typically does not appear in small plants at low populations.
