December 9, 2021. Northern New York Agricultural Development Program (NNYADP) Co-Chair Jon Greenwood was honored with the 2021 Distinguished Service to Agriculture Award during the 2021 New York Farm Bureau (NYFB) meeting yesterday in Albany, NY.<\/strong> More than 100 delegates representing 52 county Farm Bureaus from across New York State attended this 65th annual state meeting of the NYFB.<\/p>\n

DISTINGUISHED SERVICE <\/span><\/strong>AWARD WINNER JON GREENWOOD:<\/strong> Text provided by NYFB<\/em><\/span>
Jon Greenwood, \u001da first generation dairy farmer, <\/span>founded Greenwood Dairy in Canton, NY, in 1978 <\/span>with 80 cows. \u001cSince then, the farm has grown to 3,000 till<\/span>able acres and 1,400 cows.\u00a0 <\/span>Jon has been deeply involved in New York <\/span>Farm Bureau, beginning with Young Farmers. He <\/span>served on the St. Lawrence County Farm Bureau <\/span>Board for years and has been County President <\/span>for many years. He\u2019s also served on various coun<\/span>ty committees. <\/span>Jon competed in the NYFB Young Farmer lead<\/span>ership contest. Jon, and his wife Linda, were <\/span>also on the NYFB State Young Farmer & Rancher <\/span>Committee. Jon served on the NYFB State Board <\/span>representing District 7 before being elected Vice <\/span>President. He has also served as NYFB\u2019s repre<\/span>sentative on the American Farm Bureau Federation Advisory Committees. While <\/span>serving as NYFB Vice President, he served as a<\/span>member of the Farm Family <\/span>Insurance Company Board\u00a0 <\/span>of Directors. <\/span>Jon has been a County <\/span>Legislator, member of the <\/span>IDA board and numerous <\/span>other local boards through<\/span>out the years. Jon was <\/span>Northeast Dairy Produc<\/span>ers Association (NEDPA) <\/span>Chairman and a founding <\/span>member.

\nJon is also Co-<\/strong><\/span>Chair for<\/span> the Northern<\/span> New York Agricultural <\/span>Development Program (NNYADP).<\/span><\/strong> Jon and his wife Linda have three adult chil<\/span>dren, Clara, Ben, and Ted, and seven grandchil<\/span>dren. Ben and his wife Hibby work on the family <\/span>farm.<\/span><\/p>\n
