Marketing Local Meats Focus of March 5, 6 Meetings
Canton, NY – Raising livestock and selling meat products require vastly
different skills and contacts. Farmers can learn about both production
and marketing Friday, March 5th in Watertown and Westport, and Saturday,
March 6th in Canton and Plattsburgh. The Adirondack North Country
Association (ANCA) and Cornell Cooperative Extension has organized
meetings with Dr. Bob Nusbaum, a full-time farmer and retired University
of Wisconsin beef, sheep and meats specialist. ANCA Grazing Specialist &
Nutritionist Martha Pickard will talk about ways to sell to local chefs,
restaurants and consumers.
The Friday program begins at 6:30 pm with the speakers live at Cornell
Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County, Watertown, NY and videolinked
to Cornell Cooperative Extension of Essex County, Westport, NY.
The Saturday, March 6 program runs 10am-3pm with speakers live at the
Cornell Cooperative Extension of St. Lawrence County Extension Learning
Farm in Canton, NY with a videolink to Cornell Cooperative Extension of
Clinton County, Plattsburgh.
Pre-registration for the workshop is requested. The $10 workshop fee
includes lunch and materials. Call your local Cornell Cooperative
