Everyone from college professors and Northern New York landowners looking to use idle land to small families and those who like goat’s milk is interested in raising sheep and goats. To facilitate learning the basic knowledge needed to properly care for the animals, the Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) associations of Northern New York are hosting a Sheep and Goat 101 Day on March 9 at the CCE St. Lawrence County Learning Farm in Canton, NY.
New Primer for Managing Alfalfa Snout Beetle
At 2013 crop meetings and agricultural events, farmers in the Northern New York region are receiving copies of the new Management of Alfalfa Snout Beetle primer, made possible with NNYADP funding.
In March 2013, the Cornell University researcher who spearheaded the development of a biocontrol practice for controlling alfalfa snout beetle (ASB) will receive the Entomological Foundation Award for Excellence in IPM.
North Country Crop Congresses Feb. 12, 13
Northern NY – The latest and best information for producing corn – including a new harvesting technique – will be presented at the 2013 North Country Crop Congresses, organized by the Cornell Cooperative Extension associations of Northern New York and William H. Miner Agricultural Research Institute for February 12 at the Ramada Inn in Watertown, NY, and February 13 at Miner Institute in Chazy, NY. Each event also includes an agribusiness trade show.
